China Southern will launch a Shantou-Taipei route starting on February 15.
The three-times weekly service will depart Jieyang Chaoshan Airport at 0820 on Tuesdays and Sundays, arriving at Taipei Taoyuan International Airport at 0925. The return flight will leave at 1025 with an 1130 touch down in Shantou. On Thursday, the service will depart Shantou at 0800, and leave Taipei at 0955. The route will be be served by a B737-800.
Taipei will be the airline’s second destination in Taiwan from its Shantou base. The carrier received a positive response from passengers after launching the Shantou-Kaohsiung route last year, and high demand led to the introduction of a second service. It is believed that the new route will continue attracting more travellers to Taiwan.
The city of Shantou is located on the eastern coast of Guangdong province. Main industries include toy production, textiles and plastic products. Aside from air networks, the city can be reached via the Xiamen-Shenzhen Railway and the Guanghou-Mezhou-Shantou Railway.
