Cathay Pacific has expanded its codeshare agreement with Flybe – a British regional airline based in Exeter, southwest of England.
As previously reported by Business Traveller Asia-Pacific (see here), the two carriers first began codesharing last month on selected flights between Manchester and seven UK destinations, namely Aberdeen, Belfast, Edinburgh, Exeter, Inverness, the Isle of Man and Southampton.
As per the expanded agreement, Cathay Pacific will now place its “CX” code on selected Flybe flights between Amsterdam and Birmingham/Southampton, and between Paris and Birmingham/Manchester/Exeter.
The Hong Kong-based carrier believes this arrangement will provide customers with more choice and improved connectivity when travelling from the Chinese Special Administrative Region to the UK. Furthermore, this will mark the first time that Birmingham is included in the codeshare network of Cathay Pacific, meaning that the airline will finally have a presence in the popular British city.
Reservations for the codeshare flights are now open for travel commencing from 12 January.
