After some delay, Kempinski is gearing up to open Sunrise Kempinski Hotel Beijing this month. At one point, the property in construction was called Yanqi Lake Kempinski Hotel Beijing (see story) and scheduled to open in May last year.
Housed within the oval-shape structure are 306 rooms and suites, in addition to nine restaurants and bars, meeting facilities, spa and recreational facilities, a fitness centre with an indoor swimming pool, as well as a golf course and mountain biking range. It is the centrepiece of a 14 sq km project that also includes other properties that are already operational.

The Yanqi Hotel, with 111 guestrooms and suites ranging from 54 to 252sqm in size, is located on Yanqi Island and designed to blend with the scenic surroundings. It offers views of Yanshan Mountain and the Mutianyu Great Wall. The architectural style and the Chinese courtyard give the property a distinct sense of place. For food and beverage there are Waterside for all-day dining; Lake Palace for cuisines of Sichuan, Huaiyang and Beijing; Kempi Deli for pastry; 1897 for hand-picked wine selection; and a lobby lounge called The Library. Kempinski The Spa and the fitness centre complete the leisure package.

Boutique Hotels
Yanqi Hotel is ideal for meetings and events. Other than the 1,001sqm of meeting space within the property, the nearby Beijing Yanqi Lake International Conference Centre has an additional 8,277sqm. There is also ample outdoor event space with landscaped gardens. Onsite attractions also include a marina and the Yanqi Pagoda.
Finally there are 12 Boutique Hotels with a total of 178 rooms. Each of them is a villa with 10 rooms, and it has to be booked in its entirety for RMB300,000 (US$48324) per night minimum.
Yanqi Lake is a scenic resort area that spans some 66 hectares and located 8km north of the county of Huairou, in northern Beijing.
