Fog has disrupted flights at Abu Dhabi Airport this morning.
The airport's runways were closed at 0730 local time causing serious disruption to flights by all airlines.
Abu-Dhabi-based Etihad diverted 16 inbound flights to four other airports in the region – Dubai World Central, Sharjah, Al Ain and Bahrain.
The airline says that "Other flights are being rescheduled to carry passengers to their final destination as soon as possible, and extra staff have been sent to Abu Dhabi International Airport to assist delayed passengers."
The airline expects further delays throughout the day as aircraft are repositioned and flights are rescheduled.
Etihad passengers are advised to contact the Etihad Airways Contact Centre on +971 (0) 2599 0000 or visit the Etihad Airways website at www.etihad.com for more information on the status of flights in and out of Abu Dhabi Airport.
