Emirates doubles up for flights to Barcelona

11 Dec 2014 by Clement Huang

Emirates will offer double daily services to Barcelona from 2 May 2015 – up from the existing single daily flight.

The extra daily service will be operated by a Boeing 777-200LR, complementing the A380 currently serving the route.

Timings for the new flight have been scheduled to facilitate more efficient connections between Barcelona and key cities in the Far East, Middle East, Australia and Africa via Emirate’s hub in Dubai.

“Barcelona continues to be a huge success story for Emirates. In less than three years we have not only launched a new service but also added significant capacity in order to keep up with customer demand. This extra daily flight is a major boost to our operations and firmly underscores our commitment to the Spanish market,” said Hubert Frach, Emirates’ divisional senior vice president, commercial operations, west.

The B777-200LR will feature a three-class configuration, with eight in first class, 42 in business class, and 216 in economy. Flight EK188 will depart Dubai at 1545 and arrive in Barcelona at 2100. The return service will see flight EK189 take off daily from Barcelona at 2245 and land back in Dubai at 0725 the following day.
