Eurostar will cancel all services to Brussels on December 15 after a nationwide rail strike was called in Belgium.
The move, which follows an identical strike yesterday, means the cross-Channel operator will onlty only be able to operate to and from Lille Europe that day.
Unions are striking over planned government austerity measures, which include scrapping a cost-of-living wage rise as well as cuts to public services and an increase in retirement age.
It comes after strikes on Monday halted all underground trains, trams and buses in Brussels as well as the suspension of high-speed trains to France, the Netherlands and Germany.
Industrial action involving baggage handlers also resulted in 267 departing flights, almost half of the total, being cancelled at Brussels airport. It was part of a series of smaller regional strikes that will end with the nationwide day of action next week.
Eurostar last month unveiled its new rolling stock at St Pancras International in London (see news, November 13).
