Four Seasons opens two new hotels

9 Dec 2014 by Clement Huang

Four Seasons has announced the opening of two new properties – Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach and Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff Johannesburg.

The former is set on a 270m natural beachfront in a chic coastal community, and offers 237 rooms and suites. Balconies are available in every guestroom and offer sweeping views of either the sea or the city’s skyline.

Other room amenities include extra-high three metre ceilings, fully customisable Four Seasons beds, L-shaped sofas, executive-sized desks for business travellers, and complimentary toiletries by Etro.

Each of the eleven Imperial Suites comes with large living and dining spaces, two furbished terraces, and the possibility of adding a second bedroom. The fifth floor is home to the Presidential Suite and Penthouse Suite, each offering its own media room, private gym and panoramic sea views. Finally, there is the Royal Suite – accessible solely through a private elevator – and features a spa, gym, kitchen, and a grand salon with its own piano.

The dining options at Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach are headed by executive chef Gilles Arzur, and include Mediterranean and Asian inspired seafood fare at Sea Fu; coffee and cocktails at Shai Salon; whiskey and cigars at Hendricks Bar; and shisha cocktails at Mercury Lounge.

More dining outlets are set to open in the coming months. Five independent venues will also set up shop in a stand-alone building on the resort’s grounds, including two different concepts by celebrity chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten.

Four Season’s The Pearl Spa will be available in the resort with ten treatment rooms, an aqua-thermal experience, men’s and women’s relaxation areas, juice bar, Ever En Vogue Coiffure, and men’s grooming lounge. A 24-hour fitness centre, full-service tennis club, watersport centre, and two outdoor pools round up the recreational facilities offered by Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach.

The second newly opened property – Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff Johannesburg follows an eighteen-month US$56 million redevelopment of the famed Westcliff hotel.

The redesign covered all 117 guestrooms and suites, as well as the addition of new contemporary restaurants, lounges and a spa complex. Perhaps the most eye-catching features are the 375 carefully curated collection of contemporary African art that were commissioned by the hotel for the guestrooms and public spaces.

Executive Chef Dirk Gieselmann will head the hotel’s new signature restaurant Flames and View. The former offers a menu influenced by the enviable outdoor lifestyle and local barbeque, while the latter, due to open in January 2015, will resemble an art gallery and serve contemporary cuisine.

Also opening in January 2015 is the newly built Spa at Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff. It encompasses nine treatment rooms with separate men’s and women’s facilities including ice fountains, saunas and steam rooms. There is also a 24-hour fitness centre, two outdoor pools, and an outdoor lounge offering picturesque landscaped gardens and winding walking paths.

The hotel also features an array of indoor and outdoor event spaces including a 615sqm Arcadia Ballroom. With panoramic views and its own terrace, the room can be easily divided, plus offers a pre-function space. 13 additional rooms offer a choice of smaller venues, or a complete suite for a conference.
