Qatar Airways is the launch customer for Airbus’ brand-new A350-900, its first aircraft with both fuselage and wing structures made largely of carbon-fibre-reinforced polymer.
The Doha-based airline will start flying the A350 to Frankfurt from January 15. Reservations opened yesterday.
Initially, the A350 will operate as QR67/68, departing Doha daily at 0740 to arrive in Germany at 1230. The return service will leave Frankfurt at 1525 to touch back down in Doha for the midnight rush hour at 2325.
The other daily Doha – Frankfurt rotation (QR69/70) is currently operated by the Boeing B787-8 Dreamliner, but according to the airline will switch over to the A350 with the arrival of additional aircraft.
Qatar Airways has a total 80 A350s on order. It has configured these with 283 seats in total – 36 in business class and 247 in economy class.
