China Airlines has reopened its lounge for premium passengers in T1 of Taoyuan International Airport in Taipei after extensive renovation. The facility has been refitted to complement the interior design of the airline's new B777-300ER aircraft delivered this year (see story), with Chinese landscaping being the main source of inspiration. Elements such as hand-carved wood door frames and granite stone pieces from Hualien mix with tables with leather-bound tops and velvet chairs, creating an urbane East-meets-West atmosphere.
The food offerings are managed by the Novotel hotel and include both Chinese and Western dishes such as Shanghainese noodles and ratatouille. Bubble tea with tapioca pearls is one of the signature drinks here.
Business class dining area
Occupying an area of 1,090sqm and offering 222 seats, the lounge is located on the 4th floor of T1, on the airside. It is divided into various areas for reading, internet surfing, sleeping and dining in addition to private boxes and shower rooms. Together with two other facilities in T2 with 242 and 65 seats respectively, China Airlines has three VIP lounges at the Taoyuan hotel. Access is granted to first and business class passengers; holders of Dynasty Flyer's Paragon, Emerald or Gold Card; and SkyTeam Elite Plus members.
