The Lanesborough to reopen as Oetker Collection hotel

14 Nov 2014 by GrahamSmith
The Lanesborough will be an Oetker Collection hotel when it reopens in the spring. The London property closed at the end of last year for "an extensive renovation project" (see news, November 2013). It was then part of Starwood's St Regis brand. It was originally scheduled to reopen in this year's fourth quarter, but will now welcome guests again in spring 2015 — and with a new owner. The hotel, which overlooks Hyde Park Corner, has 93 rooms and suites and a spa. It will join Oetker's masterpiece series. Frank Marrenbach, CEO of Oetker Collection, said: "The Lanesborough is clearly a landmark within the European hospitality landscape with an exceptional heritage and a strong and unique identity. "The partnership between Oetker Collection and The Lanesborough provides a great potential for us to bring our signature service to guests who have a passion for living. "I am very pleased that The Lanesborough will continue to be run day-to-day by long serving managing director Geoffrey Gelardi, a seasoned hotelier who took up his role in 1990. We are proud to have him on board." oetkercollection.com
