4 Nov 2014 by Tamsin Cocks

Marriott International has announced it plans to offer a free wifi service to all 47 million members of its Marriott Rewards loyalty programme.

The service is due to become available by January 15, 2015 and will be implemented across 3,800 hotels, including all Marriott Hotels, JW Marriott, Renaissance, Gaylord Hotels, Autograph Collection, AC Hotels by Marriott, and Marriott Executive Apartments brand as well as partner The Ritz Carlton.

“Marriott Rewards members asked for free wifi and we answered,” said Stephanie Linnartz, executive vice president and chief marketing and commercial officer, Marriott International.

“Free Wi-Fi is a meaningful way to reward our most loyal customers and continue to attract next-gen travelers.”

At present, this service is available at Edition, Moxy, Courtyard, Fairfield Inn & Suites, SpringHill Suites, Residence Inn, TownePlace Suites, and Marriott Vacation Club brands.

Marriott Rewards Platinum and Gold Elite members will continue to enjoy enhanced free wifi, where available, which allows for downloading large files faster and streaming media such as movies. Other members may upgrade to enhanced wifi for a fee.

Members who wish to access this benefit need to book directly on Marriott.com, Marriott’s mobile app, or through a Marriott hotel.
