AirAsia flying daily to Nay Pyi Taw

27 Oct 2014 by Clement Huang

AirAsia is set to introduce a new direct service from its base in Kuala Lumpur (KL) to Nay Pyi Taw in Myanmar from November 10.

The route represents the low-cost carrier’s second destination in Myanmar from KL after Yangon. More significantly, AirAsia will become the first airline to operate direct services to Nay Pyi Taw out of Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

“As a truly Asean airline we are committed to connecting communities in this region, and establishing direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to the bourgeoning capital of Nay Pyi Taw is apt as it grows as the capital, as well as a new destination for visitors to discover,” said Tony Fernandes, chief executive of AirAsia Group.

Flight AK9590 will depart Kuala Lumpur daily at 1350 and arrive in Nay Pyi Taw at 1525. It will then take off from Nay Pyi Taw once more as flight AK9591, and touch back down in the Malaysian capital at 2035.

Nay Pyi Taw is located some 320km north of Yangon, and is home to many of Mayanmar’s government ministries and offices. Popular attractions include Uppatasanti Pagoda, Myoma Market, National Herbal Park, and Nay Pyi Taw Zoological Gardens & Safari Park – the largest zoo in Myanmar.

To commemorate the launch of the new route, AirAsia is offering promotional fares starting at RM169 (US$52), inclusive of taxes and fees. Bookings are now available online.
