Etihad is to increase the frequency of its long-range Abu Dhabi-Dallas/Fort Worth route before it has even begun.
The carrier will launch the route on December 3 with an initial three flights a week using a Boeing 777LR. Etihad says good forward sales have prompted it to increase frequency to daily from April 16 next year.
Dallas/Fort Worth is the airline’s sixth US route alongside New York, Washington DC, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco, which launches on November 18 this year.
The Boeing 777-200LR aircraft will offer eight seats in First Class, 40 in Business Class and 177 in economy.
Connections in Abu Dhabi include 12 cities served by Etihad and partner Jet Airways across India, including Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai. Etihad also sells a number of domestic routes from Dallas/Fort Worth to major centres across the US with its codeshare partner American Airlines.
James Hogan, Etihad president and chief executive said: “Our Dallas/Fort Worth service was announced at the end of last year and the market response has been extremely strong.”
