BA unveils three-week premium seat sale

British Airways claims savings of up to 50 per cent on First, Club World and Club Europe tickets bought before November 12.

The sale is for fares that mostly include a Saturday night stay, but will appeal to those with Avios points to spend. It covers long-haul flights from Heathrow and Gatwick and short-haul services from London City airport. Dates of travel vary according to destination.

The headline discount is a 50 per cent saving on return flights to St Lucia in First Class on selected dates in 2015. These are from £2,595 per person, including taxes and charges. Dubai also attracts a big discount, with up to 31 per cent off the return fare in First Class. Selected dates in 2015 are from £2,799.

Club World discounts include up to 30 per cent off Las Vegas on some departures in 2014 and 2015, with fares from £1,995 per person. There is also up to 27 per cent off flights to Beijing in 2014 and 2015, from £1,929; while Kuala Lumpur attracts a 21 per cent discount in Club World. Fares to the city for this year and in 2015 lead in at £2,499.

BA Holidays also has packages on offer. Three nights at the four-star Doubletree by Hilton New York Financial District is from £1,599 per person for travel between December 19 2014 and January 10, 2015. The package includes Club World flights and accommodation.

How is the sale attractive for those with Avios to spend? Have cuts to redemptions been made?

No, it’s just that if you have a few points to spare, this might be a good way of spending them.

This sale doesn’t seem to be as cheap as the one BA had about 4 or 5 weeks ago. I booked Club World Gatwick to Tampa in March 2015, returning from Detroit to Heathrow again Club World. I checked the new Sale prices and saw the price had now increased by £600. I guess it pays to book early!

Considering I bought 2 return tickets in BAs last sale in September 2014, just 7 weeks ago, this new sale would have cost me nearly £700 MORE for the same Club World seats, same route and same times. It sure pays to book early!!
