United unveils new premium check-in options at SFO

15 Oct 2014 by Clement Huang

United Airlines (United) has unveiled new check-in options at San Francisco International Airport. Available only to its most frequent customers, the new additions include a reception lobby for its invitation-only Global Service program and a dedicated check-in area for Premier MileagePlus members.

Located across from doors five and six at the departure level of Terminal 3, the Global Services reception lobby offers personalised check-in services to travellers flying in United GlobalFirst on long-haul international flights.

Premium passengers can look forward to five full-service check-in podiums, a seating area, and front-of-line security lane access at this 1,100sqm glass-enclosed facility. The reception lobby is United’s third, following similar facilities at Chicago O’Hare International Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport.

Meanwhile, the new Premier check-in area, located near Terminal 3’s Boarding Area E is designed to expedite check-in for MileagePlus Premier members. It includes kiosks that allow customers to tag their own bags in order to further speed up their path to the gate.

The new check-in area replaces the previous Terminal 3 Premier check in section, which will now be converted to serve economy class passengers.

"These new amenities will provide a higher level of comfort, convenience and personalized service, enhancing our most frequent travelers' experience when they fly with us," said Jimmy Samartzis, United's vice president of customer experience.
