Easyjet adds passport scanning function to app

14 Oct 2014 by GrahamSmith

Easyjet has added a passport scanning function to its mobile app.

Passengers with an iOS or Android device can now use their smartphone camera to scan their details.

The budget airline said this will make it faster and easier to check-in.

James Millett, Easyjet's head of digital, said: "Our new mobile passport scanning function will save time for the millions of customers who use the app to input their travel documentation details.

"We've developed the new function in partnership with credentials management service Jumio to ensure details can be scanned in easily, safely and securely.

"Combined with our mobile boarding passes customers can now check in on their mobiles up to two hours before flights in 110 of the airports Easyjet fly to across Europe."

Easyjet passengers have since April been able to use their personal electronic devices during all phases of their flight (see news, April 15).
