Travellers flying with Jetstar Asia out of Singapore can now take advantage of the carrier’s new mobile boarding pass system.
This makes the airline the first Singapore-based low-cost carrier to offer such a service. Over the past year, Jetstar Asia has invested significantly in the improvement of its pre-boarding facilities.
For example, it introduced the “Straight to Gate” self check-in option in Singapore last year (see here), and has since extended it to Hong Kong (see here).
Commenting on the mobile boarding pass option, Jetstar Asia chief executive Barathan Pasupathi said the company would focus on using innovation to improve efficiencies and keep fares low.
The airline's passengers are now able to check in for their flights at home and receive mobile boarding passes on their smartphones.
“Replacing paper boarding passes with a mobile boarding version will allow Singapore customers access to real time updates on changes to flight schedules, gate information and seat numbers,” Pasupathi said.
Travellers who are flying without any checked baggage can head directly to their gate upon arriving at the airport.
