Flybe switches to Avios

10 Oct 2014 by Jenny Southan

Flybe has announced a partnership with Avios, replacing the regional airline’s existing Rewards4All frequent flyer programme.

Avios, part of IAG – the parent company of British Airways, Vueling and Iberia, will start its partnership with Flybe on October 27 – when the airline starts operations at London City airport (LCY).

Flybe’s existing frequent flyers will only have six months to redeem their outstanding points from today. Redemptions can be made on flights up until October 24, 2015.

Passengers on all four of the airlines will be able to use the points on each others’ services, as well as on goods and at other retailers.

Flybe’s CEO Saad Hammad said the partnership represents a “big step change” for the airline and its customers.

“We join Avios following an extensive review of frequent flyer programmes, including our own in-house programme Rewards4All,” said Hammad.

“We determined a better customer proposition existed, and the clear choice was Avios. There are two million customers with billions of Avios within 30 miles of a Flybe airport,” he said.

Gavin Halliday, managing director for Avios, said: “This is an important partnership for Avios, building on our commitment to provide engaging collection and redemption opportunities for Avios Travel Rewards Programme members.

“Our members will benefit from access to even more reward flights and on new regional routes, as well as the new opportunity to collect when flying with Flybe.”

This year Flybe has stepped up its efforts to attract more business travellers with the launch of a multi-stop shuttle service between Jersey and Aberdeen with drop offs at Southampton and Leeds/Bradford airports, as well as launching a LCY to Aberdeen service.
