Emirates has deployed its flagship Airbus A380 aircraft onto the popular Dubai–Dallas/Fort Worth service.
Since introducing the route in February 2012, the Gulf carrier has transported more than 460,000 passengers between the two cities. Dallas/Fort Worth is Emirates’ third A380 destination in the USA, joining New York and Los Angeles.
With the carrier looking to expand the capacity of its services to North America, it will also be putting the A380 on its San Francisco and Houston routes in December.
The A380 service to Dallas departs Dubai at 0245 as flight EK221 and arrives in Fort Worth International Airport at 0945. Flight time is approximately 16 hours. Meanwhile, the return service sees EK222 take off from Dallas at 1235 and touch back down in Dubai International Airport at 1220 the following day. The flying time is 14 hours and 45 minutes.
“Commencing an A380 service to Dallas/Fort Worth allows us to provide an additional 222 seats each way on the route every day, significantly enhancing the $200 million in annual benefits the airport estimated our previous flight provided. This means a greater number of Emirates passengers travelling from South Asia, the Middle East, Far East and Africa can enjoy easy access to North Texas from Emirates’ home and hub of Dubai,” said Hubert Frach, Emirates' divisional senior vice president.
