More than 560 flights were cancelled or delayed in Hong Kong as Typhoon Kalmaegi swept through the Chinese Special Administrative Region.
The Hong Kong Observatory hoisted the first T8 Storm signal of the year last night, which persisted through until 10:40am today when it was lowered to a T3 Strong Wind signal.
Overnight, several flights were cancelled, particularly flights towards the mainland. This included China Eastern flight MU726 bound for Shanghai Pudong; Hong Kong Airlines flight HX336 to Chongqing, and low-cost carrier HK Express flight UO1302 to Zhengzhou.
For Cathay Pacific (CX) and its regional offshoot Dragonair (KA), flight CX691 to Singapore was also cancelled, along with flight KA486 to Taipei, and KA876 to Shanghai Pudong.
Meanwhile, hundreds of flights have been delayed for hours.
Passengers due to fly out of Hong Kong today are advised to contact their respective airlines or check the airport website regularly for the latest flight information.
