Vanilla Air will soon fly to Hong Kong and Kaohsiung

12 Sep 2014 by Clement Huang

Low-cost carrier (LCC) Vanilla Air started accepting reservations today for its soon-to-launch services to Hong Kong and Kaohsiung.

Flights to both destinations will be operated out of the carrier’s base at Tokyo-Narita, and will begin on November 2 2014, and February 1, 2015 respectively.

Vanilla Air will initially serve Hong Kong with three weekly flights, which will then be boosted to a daily service from February 1 next year, and then to a twice-daily service from February 21 onwards.

The initial three-times-weekly services will see flight JW311 depart Tokyo at 0910 and arrive in Hong Kong at 1310. The return flight JW312 will leave Hong Kong at 1410 and land back in Tokyo at 1905.

Meanwhile, the LCC will serve flights to Kaohsiung daily. The Tokyo (Narita)–Kaohsiung service complements Vanilla Air’s existing thrice daily flights to Taipei Taoyuan.

The single daily service to Kaohsiung will feature flight JW121 departing Tokyo at 1145 and arriving in Kaohsiung at 1520. The return service sees flight JW122 take off from Kaohsiung at 1600 and reach Tokyo again at 2025.

Since rebranding itself from AirAsia Japan (see here), Vanilla Air has expanded its international services to Seoul, Taipei, and now Hong Kong and Kaohsiung. With an existing fleet of six Airbus A320s, the carrier intends to launch future services to Guam and Saipan as well as Indonesia in the long run.
