8 Sep 2014 by Clement Huang

Scoot has outlined its operation plans for the upcoming Boeing 787-9.

As previously reported by Business Traveller Asia-Pacific (see here), the Singapore-based low-cost carrier (LCC) has an existing order for 20 B787s – ten B787-8s and ten of the stretched variant, the B787-9.

The first of the Dreamliner, a B787-9, is due for delivery in November, with more to follow. The aircraft is scheduled to begin operations from March 2015 onwards. However, according to airlineroute.net, this could be brought forward to as early as this coming December.

The 787-9 will be configured with a two-class setup with 375 seats. Up front is the premium ScootBiz cabin, which will feature 35 all-leather seats in a 2-3-2 configuration.

There are also 340 economy seats a 3-3-3 setup. The popular special S-T-R-E-T-C-H seats and Scoot in Silence cabin will also be available onboard, and will be enhanced with an adjustable headrest. All passengers will enjoy in-seat power sockets as well as streaming internet connectivity.

Based on the current timetable, the LCC will first launch the B787-9 on three different routes next year. Effective from March 29, the Dreamliner will begin serving Hong Kong (once daily), Perth (five weekly) and Sydney (once daily) from its base in Singapore.

Bangkok Don Mueang (once daily) and Gold Coast (five weekly) will follow in April, before Scoot deploys the B787-9 to its China destinations of Tianjin (thrice weekly), Qingdao (twice weekly) and Shenyang (twice weekly) the following month.

Meanwhile, the carrier’s existing B777-200 aircraft will continue to operate flights to Taipei Taoyuan, Tokyo Narita, Seoul Incheon and Nanjing.
