Flash Update: China Southern rebranding only affects domestic first class

27 Aug 2014 by Clement Huang

After a day of information search and checking, Business Traveller Asia-Pacific was eventually able to confirm with China Southern Airlines (CSA) that its rebranding of first class will only affect single-aisle aircraft flying on domestic routes within the mainland.

International first class is, for now, exempted from the change.

Business Traveller Asia-Pacific, along with other world media, had earlier today announced CSA’s intention to rename first class to business class on all its services in a bid to reclaim government officials amid Beijing's crackdown on wasteful government spending (see here).

China’s other major players, Air China, China Eastern Airlines and Hainan Airlines have not yet confirmed whether they will follow CSA’s lead.
