The low-cost carrier launched a social media contest last year entitled, “AirAsia X: Paint the Plane”, which had aircraft enthusiasts submitting livery design ideas. Participants were asked to use one of the seven name options provided by the airline to influence their designs.

Denzel Tap Shuet Lih was chosen as the winner of the competition, earning himself a trip to Airbus’ headquarters in Toulouse for the unveiling of the aircraft featuring his design.
AirAsia X expects to take delivery of two more A330s by the end of this year, which it hopes will contribute to the company’s long-term growth and pursuits.
“Deliveries of the new aircraft will fortify our stand to expand further in Asia-Pacific and gain first mover advantage. It will also contribute to our multi-hub strategy in Thailand and Indonesia. The multi-hub strategy will enable us to provide our guests with more diverse and convenient flight options,” said Azran Osman-Rani, chief executive of AirAsia X.
