Marriott International has significantly expanded the locations where its mobile check-in and checkout service can be used. Previously only available at the company’s flagship Marriott brand (see here), the app has now been launched in 11 additional brands.
The Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Renaissance Hotels, Autograph Collection, AC Hotels, Courtyard, SpringHill Suites, Fair field Inn & Suites, Residence Inn, Towne Place Suites and Marriott Executive Apartments have been added to the list, and properties under these brands will gradually be introducing mobile check-in, checkout service in the weeks to come. It should be noted that the use of the service is restricted to Marriott Rewards members.
So how does it work? Upon downloading the Marriott Mobile app, Marriott Rewards members can check-in through their smartphones as early as 1600 the day before arrival. They will then receive an automatic notification when the room is ready.
On arrival, guests can simply head to the mobile check-in desk and collect their key cards, which will be ready and waiting.
Finally, at the end of their stays, guests will also receive a notification informing them that mobile checkout is available. Those who are interested in using the service can simply input their email address where their bill will be sent. This will allow them to bypass the front desk.
