Free upgrade to first on Qantas A380

11 Aug 2014 by GrahamSmith

Qantas is offering business class passengers a free upgrade to first on its A380 services between Sydney and London, Dallas/Fort Worth and Hong Kong, and between Melbourne and London via Dubai.

The 'Buy Business, Get First In One Direction' deal applies when booking eligible single and return journeys, with passengers receiving a complimentary first class upgrade one-way.

Members of Qantas' Frequent Flyer loyalty scheme can earn points and status accruals at first class rates on the upgraded flight — providing Gold and Platinum members travelling to London and Hong Kong enough points to qualify for a second first class upgrade on the return leg.

The offer is valid on the two London routes between August 15 and January 31 next year, although the window to buy closes on August 15.

Qantas will begin flying the A380 on its Dallas/Fort Worth route on September 29 and the offer applies from that date until July 31, 2015. The window to buy closes on August 31.

Passengers wanting to take advantage of the offer on Qantas' Hong Kong route will need to travel prior to September 28, when the A380 that flies the route will be replaced by a B747 without first class. The window to buy closes on September 28.

There are some restrictions — the deal is only valid on selected business fare classes. These are J/C/D/I for both London and Hong Kong, and J/C/D for Dallas.
