Dubai-based Emirates announced the cancellation of its daily Dubai-Kiev service effective immediately amid the on-going conflict in Ukraine between government and separatist, pro-Russian forces.
Emirates had already declared last week that it was going to cancel the service from August 1 (see here), but the ill-fated MH17’s demise appears to have led to the decision to terminate the service even earlier.
Emirates only started servicing Kiev in January this year. It is believed that the A330-200 used on the route will be put on the carrier’s newly launched daily Budapest flight come October instead.
