Passengers on Japan Airlines (JAL) will enjoy free wifi across the carrier's home country by the end of the month.
JAL has joined forces with Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation (NTT East) to offer this initiative to travellers.
All passengers that book a ticket with JAL will be able to apply for a free ID and password, which they can use to connect to NTT East’s wifi service. This process will go live on the website at the end of June.
The offer will provide unlimited wifi, for a maximum of 14 days, throughout 17 Japanese cities, which are: Hokkaido, Aomori, Iwate, Akita, Miyagi, Yamagata, Fukushima, Ibaraki, Tochigi, Gunma, Saitama, Chiba, Tokyo, Kanagawa, Yamanashi, Nagano and Niigata.
Japan Airlines revealed that around half of international tourists travelling to Japan wished to use free wifi. As a result, the airline decided to partner with NTT East, who has over 46,000 hotspots in the cities, to give travellers this service during their visit.
