Iberia and US Airways sign codeshare

13 Jun 2014 by GrahamSmith

Oneworld members Iberia and US Airways have signed a codeshare agreement including several transatlantic routes.

The Spanish airline will add its code to US Airways' direct flights from Madrid, Barcelona and other European cities to Philadelphia and Charlotte.

Passengers arriving at Iberia's five US destinations — Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami and New York — will also have increased connection flight options in the US.

US Airways will add its code onto Iberia's five US-bound services as well as onto flights from Madrid to cities in Spain and Portugal.

US Airways joined the Oneworld alliance earlier this year (see news, April 1) just months after completing its merger with American Airlines (see news, December 2013). Until the two carriers' full integration, US Airways and its regional airlines will operate as Oneworld affiliate members under the American umbrella.

US Airways has since entered the joint business agreement for North Atlantic routes to which British Airways, American Airlines, Iberia and Finnair.

Earlier this week, the airline expanded its codeshare arrangement with BA (see news, June 10), while last week it began a codeshare with Air Berlin (see news, June 5).
