Qatar Airways’ inaugural flight to Miami International Airport touched down yesterday, commencing service to the airline’s sixth US gateway.
With the new route, Qatar Airways is now the only carrier to offer non-stop service between the Middle East and Miami, Florida.
The Doha–Miami route is part of the airline’s expansion plans into the United States, with direct flights to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport due to follow in July (see here). Qatar Airways also launched flights to Philadelphia International Airport earlier this year.
Travellers flying to Miami from international destinations such as Bangkok, Nairobi, Colombo and Mumbai will be able to do so in 20 hours or less through a quick transfer in Doha. No Asian carrier offers direct services to the US city.
Qatar Airways’ Doha to Miami route is operated four times weekly with a Boeing 777-200 in a two-class configuration that offers 42 seats in business and 217 in economy.
Flight QR777 departs Doha at 0840 to reach Miami at 1720. It returns as QR778 out of Miami at 2115 and into Doha at 1820 the next day. The days of operation are Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
