Oneworld members US Airways and Air Berlin have launched a codeshare agreement.
The deal sees US Airways place its code on Air Berlin flights from Berlin to Chicago, Miami and New York JFK, and from Dusseldorf to Fort Myers, Florida, Los Angeles, Miami and New York JFK.
Passengers travelling with Air Berlin will now be able to book codeshare travel on US Airways flights from Frankfurt to Charlotte and Philadelphia, Zurich to Philadelphia and from Munich to Philadelphia, as well as connecting service to Chicago, LA, Miami, New York and Phoenix.
US Airways joined Oneworld as an affiliate member earlier this year (see news, April 1). It plans to start further codeshares with other members of the alliance in "the coming months".
Stephan Nagel, Air Berlin's senior vice president, alliances and cooperation, said: "We have been maintaining a strong relationship with American Airlines for many years already.
"Thanks to the agreement with US Airways airberlin continues to extend its presence in North America and further strengthens the cooperation with its oneworld partners in the US.
"This relationship will add significant value for both our customers by offering even more travel opportunities."
