Eva Air upgrades inflight products on B777-300ERs

28 May 2014

Eva Air has taken delivery of two new B777-300ERs (see here), with seats featuring a new inflight entertainment system and communications functionality. The airline will also offer business passengers new amenity kits.

The B777-300ER has 333 seats, including 39 fully flat business seats in 1-2-1 configuration, 56 premium economy in a 2-4-2 setup, and 238 economy arranged in 3-3-3. Starting from June 3, the aircraft will be flying from Taipei Taoyuan airport to New York JFK every Sunday and Monday; and from Taoyuan to Los Angeles International Airport every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Each seat has a 110V power outlet and a USB port. There are two sizes for the touchscreen seatback TV depending on the class of travel. The ones in Royal Laurel are 16 inches while those in Elite and economy are 11.1 inches. Whereas on other aircraft the IFE electronic cases are located under the Elite and economy seats, this is no longer the case on the new B777s, and passengers are afforded more legroom as a result. The new airliners are equipped with both Panasonic’s Ex3 inflight entertainment system (IFE) and the global communications suite (GCS). Through the GCS system, passengers can use the inflight wifi service at US$11.95 an hour or US$21.95 for a day. Passengers can access the service by selecting “EVA WiFi” on their device and making the payment following instructions on the screen.

The third aircraft will be delivered next month, increasing the number of B777-300ERs in Eva's fleet to 18.
