United to cease flying to Doha

26 May 2014 by Clement Huang

United Airlines will take Doha out of its network later this year.

Currently, the Star Alliance member operates the daily Washington Dulles–Dubai–Doha service as a triangular route, but this will cease on August 30 to become a Washington Dulles–Dubai flight. The move may be due to increased competition from Qatar Airways, which has been very aggressive with network expansion in recent years. Indeed, the Gulf carrier will soon be flying to two new destinations in the US – Miami from June 10 and Dallas/Fort Worth starting starting July 1.

The US-based carrier will continue to use the Boeing 777-200ER for Dubai, offering a two-class configuration with 50 seats in business class and 226 in economy.
