Cathay Pacific plans to launch a non-stop daily service from its base in Hong Kong to Zurich from March 29 next year, subject to government approval. It is going to be the airline's first direct service to Switzerland. Tickets are now available for purchase.
The Swiss city is also one of the world’s strongest banking centres, as well as an important transport hub.
The Zurich service is to be operated by a Boeing 777-300ER – the backbone of CX’s long-haul fleet – in a four-class configuration, with six seats in first class, 53 in business, 34 in premium economy and 182 in economy.
Cathay Pacific chief executive Ivan Chu said: "We are very pleased to be able to add Zurich to our growing international network. Zurich and Hong Kong are two of the world’s leading financial centres, where people appreciate high standards of service, and we are seeing considerable demand for a quality travel experience, especially on long-haul routes."
