United Airlines has expanded its Mercedes-Benz tarmac transportation service to Los Angeles International Airport, after it has introduced it to cities such as San Francisco (see here), Chicago, Houston, and Newark (see here).
The service is available to select members of its invitation-only rewards programme Global Services, as well as travellers flying on United Global First. United representatives will meet eligible customers at the aircraft, and escort them to the waiting Mercedes-Benz vehicle, before driving them across the tarmac to their connecting flight. Customers with tight connection times will be given priority.
"We recognise that many of our customers value time above all else when traveling, and our tarmac transportation service demonstrates one of the thoughtful ways we can provide greater efficiency throughout their travels," said Jimmy Samartzis, United's vice president of customer experience.
Mercedes-Benz is a close partner with United and, other than the tarmac transportation service, it offers bonus miles to the airlines’ Mileage Plus Premier members when they purchase or lease certain Mercedes models. Offers are available at www.united.com/Mercedes.
