Turkish Airlines and JetBlue Airways have launched a codeshare that will see the former place its ITK code on selected Jetblue-operated flights from New York JFK and Boston Logan airports. The agreement allows passengers to purchase tickets combining flights on both carriers and receive one-stop ticketing and baggage check-in on their day of departure. Turkish offers three daily flights between JFK and its Istanbul Ataturk hub and this week launched the first-ever non-stop service between Istanbul and Boston. Ahmet Bolat, Turkish Airlines' chief investment and technology officer, said: "We are sure that the cooperation of our airlines will be fruitful, enabling our passengers to access a global network via our JFK and Boston gateways." Turkish offers onward connections from Istanbul to almost 250 destinations across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, South Asia and the Far East. Through JetBlue, international travellers will have access to 24 key US destinations including Baltimore, Buffalo, New York, Detroit, Michigan, Jacksonville, Florida, New York and Tampa. Scott Laurence, JetBlue's vice president of network planning, said: "We are delighted to begin codeshare operations with Turkish Airlines just as the carrier is expanding its US network to include our growing Boston focus city. "More and more international carriers are being attracted to Boston Logan in part because of JetBlue's expanding route network, and that's great news for travelers as well as the local economy." JetBlue will roll-out its first "premium transcontinental" business class product on its New York JFK to Los Angeles route from next month (see news, April 3). In February, Turkish Airlines opened its expanded and redesigned departures lounge at Ataturk Airport (see news, February 12). turkishairlines.com, jetblue.com Graham Smith
