Swiss-Belhotel to further expand in Indonesia

12 May 2014 by Clement Huang

Hong Kong-based hospitality group Swiss-Belhotel International, which already has a sizeable portfolio of properties in Indonesia, continues to expand its presence in the country with the announcement of another new hotel – Belhotel Pangkalpinang – located in the western region of the country.

Pangkal Pinang serves as one of the major ports of the Karimata Strait, and is known for its production of tin, white pepper and marine vessels. It has regular airlinks with the Indonesian capital of Jakarta.

The new hotel, scheduled to open in 2015, will offer 334 guestroom as part of a mixed waterfront development that will include retail shopping space, a commercial district and a business park. As a four-star establishment, the property will feature the usual facilities such as restaurants, meeting spaces and a business centre, as well as leisure elements like swimming pool, spa and gym. On top of that, there will also be a water park, in addition to sky deck and lounge.

The new property is part of an aggressive expansion plan by the hotel management company, which intends to operate a total of 97 hotels and resorts in the archipelago within the next two years.

Swiss-Belhotel currently operates 39 hotels in Indonesia, and a further 15 due to open in 2014, including five-star Ciputra World Surabaya. In addition, the group will soon be launching its two-star business brand, Zest, in the country. Zest Hotel Bogor, Zest Hotel Manado and Zest Hotel Airport are all expected to open later this year.
