Ritz-Carlton has signed an agreement to open its first hotel in Mumbai.
The 238-room property will be only the brand’s second in India. The new hotel will be in Mumbai’s Worli district, a new business area in India’s commercial and financial capital. It is expected to open in early 2017.
The mixed use development, within a high-rise tower, will include residential space. A second tower with condominiums will be managed by Ritz-Carlton.
The hotel will include an ocean-view bar, two specialty and fine dining restaurants, a Ritz-Carlton Spa plus extensive banquet and meeting spaces designed for the high profile events and society weddings for which Mumbai is renowned.
The venture is a partnership between Oberoi Realty and Sahana Group. “We have been searching for the perfect location for a premier hotel in Mumbai for several years,” said Herve Humler, president and chief operating officer of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company. “This site offers everything hotel guests could want - a prime business location and a stylish and contemporary design in this historically rich and vibrant city.”
Ritz Carlton’s other property in India is in Bengaluru.
