Four Seasons Johannesburg to open in December

6 May 2014 by BusinessTraveller

The iconic Westcliff Hotel will reopen under the Four Seasons branding in December, following extensive refurbishment.

Business Traveller first reported plans for the hotel to be rebranded as a Four Seasons property last year (see online news May 2013).

Formerly owned by the Orient Express group, the hotel closed in July last year for refurbishment, and Four Seasons has confirmed that it will reopen as the Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff Johannesburg on December 1.

The property is situated within three hectares of landscaped gardens next to Johannesburg Zoo, and features 117 rooms across nine low-rise buildings.

Following the revamp the hotel will offer five new restaurants and lounges, including the showpiece View, which as the name suggests will feature views of the city from its hilltop location.

Flames will serve grilled dishes paired with South African wines and local craft beers, and The Cellar Door will offer private dining for up to 20 guests.

Spa facilities will be housed within a new building, and the hotel will also feature two outdoor heated swimming pools, and 1457 sqm of meeting space including the 615 sqm Arcadia Ballroom.

Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff Johannesburg will be the group’s first property in South Africa, joining existing African hotels in Egypt, Morocco and Tanzania.
