Hilton opens Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam

1 May 2014 by GrahamSmith

Hilton Worldwide has opened a new Waldorf Astoria property in Amsterdam.

The 93-room Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam, which is located on the Herengracht canal, was originally six private residences dating back to the 17th century.

Its bedrooms, which number several suites, overlook either the canal or the property's courtyard garden, which is the largest in the city.

John Vanderslice, global head of Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, said: "Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam perfectly represents our ambition to create unforgettable experiences and inspirational environments in the world’s leading destinations.

"This is a truly unique property that captures the Dutch approach to understated luxury in its design and service culture."

The hotel has two restaurants and a bar. Guests can eat light bites, afternoon tea or pre-dinner drinks in Peacock Alley, or drink in the converted underground Vault Bar. There is also a main traditional restaurant.

Elsewhere, there are seven meeting rooms and a Grand Ballroom, and a spa that is comprised of three treatment rooms, a sauna, steam room and heated indoor pool. Wifi is available throughout the hotel.

Last month, Waldorf Astoria confirmed plans to open a property in Beverly Hills (see news, April 11).
