Virgin Australia aircraft in hijacking alert

25 Apr 2014 by GrahamSmith

A Virgin Australia Boeing 737-800 was at the centre of a hijacking alert today after a passenger reportedly tried to enter the cockpit and take over the plane.

The aircraft was boarded by troops when it landed at Bali airport and an arrest was made.

Virgin Australia blamed a drunk passenger for the alarm and said the plane had not been hijacked.

Flight VA41 took off from Brisbane at 1044 local time (0144 BST) for Bali.

The aircraft remains on the tarmac at Bali airport.
