Etihad Airways and South African Airways have teamed up to offer members of their loyalty programmes double miles when they fly with the other airline.
The promotion, which is the first partnership between the Etihad Guest and SAA Voyager frequent flyer programmes, applies to flights made before June 30.
To redeem miles for reward flights on SAA, Etihad Guest members must contact the Etihad Guest Service Centre a minimum of 14 days prior to the intended date of travel.
Etihad and SAA signed a commercial cooperation agreement last September enabling both airlines to introduce codeshare and interline services, in addition to "greater cooperation between the airlines' frequent flyer programmes".
Barry Green, Etihad Guest's managing director, said: "We are delighted to build upon our successful partnership with South African Airways in this loyalty programme collaboration.
"This will appeal to both airlines' loyal customers who now have the opportunity to earn and redeem miles across both Etihad Airways and SAA networks."
Suretha Cruse, head of SAA Voyager, added: "South African Airways entered into a strategic codeshare partnership with Etihad Airways, and as an additional value proposition, we are pleased to complement the partnership further by providing our Voyager members with the opportunity to earn and redeem Voyager Miles on Etihad Airways' global network."
