24 Mar 2014 by GrahamSmith

Hilton Worldwide will open a Waldorf Astoria hotel in Jakarta in 2018, it has been announced.

The 181-room Waldorf Astoria Jakarta will be the luxury brand's second property in Indonesia.

The 74-storey mixed-use development will be the tallest building in the city as things currently stand.

It will be located on Jalan M H Thamrin Road in the midst of the city's central business district, and about 32km from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

Among its 181 guestrooms will be suites measuring 60 sqm in size.

The hotel will contain an all-day dining restaurant, a specialty restaurant, a bar and the brand's signature Peacock Alley lobby lounge.

It will also feature a 2,000 sqm ballroom, "several" meeting rooms, a business centre, a library lounge, an outdoor pool, a health club, and a spa.

Andrew Clough, Hilton Worldwide's senior vice president, development, Middle East & Asia Pacific, said: "Opening a Waldorf Astoria hotel in a cosmopolitan capital city such as Jakarta will augment the brand's awareness in southeast Asia and pave the way for future landmark projects in the region."

Hilton this month opened its first Waldorf Astoria in Beijing (see news, February 17).
