Four new in-flight amenity kits

19 Mar 2014 by Clement Huang
UNITED AIRLINES RELEASE 2014 AVAILABILITY Business class (branded Business First) on long-haul international flights departing from the US PACKAGING The amenity kits are part of the airline’s “Fly Friendly” brand campaign, and feature tin cases that sport each of United’s eight North American hubs. As these are limited edition cases, they make excellent collectors items. SPECIAL CONTENT Philosophy branded skin care products are provided in each kit. This includes a hand and cuticle cream, as well as lip balm. Upon using both products, I found the hand lotion to be very pleasant and effective. The moisturising effect lasted for a significant duration making the cream a very appropriate option during long-haul flights. In steep contrast, the lip balm left a lukewarm and sticky feeling upon application. I found the taste to be very chemical-like, and it did not leave a good feeling on my lips. OTHER CONTENT There is a pair of socks, hair comb, sleeping mask, earplugs, a packet of tissue paper, dental kit, sanitizing wipe, pen and breath-freshening mints in each kit. www.united.com   ETIHAD AIRWAYS RELEASE 2014 AVAILABILITY Diamond First, Pearl Business and Coral Economy passengers travelling on long-haul services to and from Abu Dhabi PACKAGING The amenity kits feature patterns of Sadou, a colourful, intricate and centuries-old Abu Dhabi weaving craft. These patterns are traditionally found on blankets, cushions and Bedouin tents. SPECIAL CONTENT Diamond First kits will feature exclusive products by luxury New York brand Le Labo, while Pearl Business kits will feature all-natural products by Korres. Economy kits will feature standard amenity offerings. www.etihad.com   JET AIRWAYS RELEASE December 2013 AVAILABILITY First and Première (business) guests onboard the carrier’s international flights. PACKAGING First class passengers will receive the amenities in exclusive containers, including a tailored black matte leather punch with gold trimmings, or a micro-fibre silver pouch for women. Meanwhile, the Première amenity kit is unisex and the contents are all packed inside a soft pouch made of textured fabric. SPECIAL CONTENT Personal care products from Korres, and an exclusive Earl Grey tea-scented facial mist for the first class kit. www.jetairways.com   JETSTAR ASIA RELEASE March 2014 AVAILABILTY Open to all, but at a cost of SG$12 (US$9.50) when purchased online PACKAGING The contents are contained within a simple black nylon bag that features a "strip" that showcases the Jetstar brand. A uniqure feature of the bag is that it is able to double up as a tablet case as well. While devices such as the iPad Air or the Samsung Galaxy NotePRO are simply too large to fit inside the bag, smaller tablets such as the iPad mini are able to, and fit quite snuggly within. SPECIAL CONTENT The kit features products from European natural cosmetic brand, Zenology. This includes a beeswax and peppermint lipbalm, and a blue ginger with aloe vera hand balm. Upon testing both products, I found the lip balm to be fairly bland, and lacking in terms of being able to moisturise my lips. It did however leave a very nice pepermint tingling sensation that I enjoyed very much. On the other hand, the hand balm was extremely fragrant, and made my hands feel smooth following application. I also found the scent a very pleasent and welcoming one. OTHER CONTENTS A dental kit is provided, as is a pair of ear plugs, a sleep mask, a pair of socks, tissue, an inflatable neck-pillow, and a pen. www.jetstar.com/sg   Clement Huang
