Car rental company Hertz has made changes to its Gold Plus Rewards loyalty scheme.
The enhanced programme allows members to achieve and retain status in elite tiers more easily — the threshold to achieve the higher tiers has been lowered, while members also need fewer rentals to remain in the higher tier or to prevent downgrading.
Members now need to make seven rentals to qualify for Five Star status and 20 for President’s Circle status, compared to ten and 30 respectively beforehand.
They can also earn and redeem points faster by not only earning points on rentals but also on any ancillary product added to their rental, such as child seats, wifi and fuel.
Improved technology will let them access their account balance information, the car hire firm said. They will receive “emails sent to their phone with up-to-the-minute information that lets them know which car they’ll be driving and where their vehicle is parked”.
Gold Plus members can also earn triple points on qualifying rentals until April 15.
