BA makes Gold Executive Club upgrade changes

6 Mar 2014 by GrahamSmith

British Airways Gold Executive Club members will now receive two upgrade vouchers for one person, instead of a single upgrade voucher for two, when they earn 3,500 tier points.

Currently, cardholders receive an upgrade for two voucher when they amass 2,500 tier points and another when they reach 3,500.

In response to member feedback, BA has decided to award two Gold upgrade vouchers for one person at 3,500 tier points.

The airline said in a statement: "This means that if the customer is travelling on their own, they are able to upgrade on two separate occasions."

Ian Romanis, the airline's head of customer engagement, added: "We know from our Gold customers that they don't always travel with a companion and would value the flexibility of two upgrade vouchers they can use on separate occasions, so we've made the change in response to their feedback."

In December, BA allowed Executive Club Gold members with more than 5,000 tier points to nominate a family member or friend for a Gold partner card and two more for Silver partner cards (see news, December 11).
