Etihad to debut A380 on London route

4 Mar 2014 by GrahamSmith

Etihad Airways will likely debut its A380 on its Abu Dhabi to London Heathrow route in the first week of December.

The Gulf carrier is scheduled to add its first ten superjumbos to its fleet that month and will fly the Airbus aircraft to London and then to New York, Sydney and Melbourne.

Etihad CEO James Hogan revealed the news at a press conference in Abu Dhabi yesterday.

The airline will operate its A380s in a three-class configuration of first, business and economy.

It is also due to receive its first Boeing 787 in the fourth quarter of this year. The 40 B787-9s that Etihad has on order will come in two-class and three-class configurations.

It has an additional 30 B787-10s on Boeing's books, with the first scheduled to arrive in 2018.

Last week, it emerged that Etihad will soon launch a service to Scotland (see news, February 28).
