Etihad ups frequency to Chengdu

3 Mar 2014 by Clement Huang

Etihad Airways will be increasing the frequency of its services between Abu Dhabi and Chengdu to a daily from March 30.

The Gulf carrier currently flies to the Chinese city five-times weekLY, but will expand this due to increased passenger volumes, which has grown by 25 per cent year-on-year.

Etihad offers the only direct airline connection between the UAE and China's Sichuan province.

Chengdu is one of the biggest destinations in China for foreign direct investments, and has emerged as a popular economic, transport and communication centre for the country, where nearly half of the world's Fortune 500 companies maintain bases in the city.

Flights will continue to be operated by a same Airbus A330-200 aircraft, and offer a two-class configuration with 22 seats in business class, and 240 in economy.
