British Airways will deploy a B787 Dreamliner on its London Heathrow to Chennai route from October.
The national carrier will also up the service to the Indian city, which will be its eighth B787 destination, from six times weekly to daily.
BA already runs the Dreamliner to New York Newark and Toronto and on March 3, it will start flying to Austin in Texas.
Other routes announced for the summer include Hyderabad, Chengdu, Philadelphia and Calgary.
Richard Tams, BA's head of UK and Ireland sales, said: "Customers travelling on the Dreamliner are enjoying new levels of comfort and reduced jet-lag thanks to improvements in air quality, mood lighting, quieter cabins, and lower air pressure."
BA is introducing 20 new aircraft into its fleet this year including four B787s and five A380 superjumbos. In total, the airline has ordered 24 787s and 12 A380s.
Last week, the airline announced that it will deploy an A380 on its LHR to Singapore route from October 28 (see news, February 19).
