In celebration of the upcoming 86th Academy Awards ceremony on March 2, Cathay Pacific will showcase a selection of the films nominated this year, along with past winners of the much-coveted gold statuette.
A selection of Oscar-nominated films available next month on CX
A total of 39 Oscar-related titles will be available on the airline’s Studio CX entertainment system – the largest line-up ever. Notable 2014 nominees include the sci-fi space drama film Gravity starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, historical epic 12 Years a Slave with Chiwetel Ejiofor and Brad Pitt, and fantasy visual The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug starring Martin Freeman and Ian McKellen.
In addition, four of the new releases – survival film All is Lost, documentary 20 Feet from Stardom and comedy drama films Inside Llewyn Davis and Nebraska – will be shown on Studio CX before hitting cinemas in Hong Kong.
Past Best Picture films to be screened include last year’s winner Argo, and old favourites such as A Beautiful Mind, Shakespeare in Love, and Titanic. The Oscar-winning films will be offered in addition to the usual collection of movies, TV programmes and audio onboard Cathay Pacific flights.
